We thought it might be a good time to say a few words about something we are passionate about. Care!
Now unfortunately I'm sure you have all seem the disturbing news stories over the months and years about failing care homes and abusive carers. Working within care we also hear details of bad practice within our industry. This all contributes to a negative image of care generally and care work in particular.
But the news is not so full of the positive stories about care and carers and there are countless numbers of those. We see the work our wonderful carers do on a daily basis, and we know that there are fantastic carers working the length and breadth of our country, making a genuine positive difference to peoples lives.
We also believe that as the population ages, and increasing numbers of people require care, opportunities to develop rewarding careers will continue to expand. We believe that social care provides the best career opportunities for anyone who is committed to making a difference. Free training is plentiful. For instance, all our carers are offered the opportunity to undertake NVQs. In addition, Hertfordshire County Council and the Hertfordshire Care Providers Association make hundreds of free courses available every year. And the great news is that even if your experience at school wasn't a particularly good one, and you believe that you are not cut out for learning, the support provided to all learners is exceptional in our experience.
