Carer of the Month: Ally

The lovely Ally has been working with Wilnash for eight months now and she has become an integral part of our team. Initially fairly quiet and reserved Ally is now one of the jokers in the pack. She has a great sense of humour and likes nothing more than bringing Lynda and I down a peg or two. We had a chat about how she has found life as a carer so far.

So Ally, what are your thoughts on working as a carer?

I absolutely love it! It’s great knowing that you are part of a team that shares a common ethos. We are all pulling in the same direction and we know that we have the full support of the management. Lynda is as nutty as a fruitcake but that means that there is never a dull moment.

What do you particularly like about being a carer?

I love everything about being a carer. As I said before, I like being part of a team. And I love knowing that I make a positive difference to people’s lives. I also get to meet such interesting people with so many stories to tell. It’s a privilege.

Is there anything that you don’t like about being a carer?

Nothing at all. Although I do think that the biscuit selection in the office has gone downhill a bit recently. Particularly as they know what biscuits I like. Shoddy!

What do you like to do in your spare time Ally?

I’m very family orientated and so I thoroughly enjoy spending time with loved ones. My two nieces are a particular joy. I also love shopping – there’s nothing like finding a great bargain!

Lynda’s right to reply!

Firstly, I have to say that it takes a nutter to recognise a nutter! And as for the biscuits, if we don’t nail them down Ally will eat them. Any biscuits!

But seriously, Ally is a fantastic carer and we are delighted to have her as part of the team. Everyone loves Ally and she gets on so well with both her colleagues and her clients. She has great natural empathy and instinctively responds to people’s wishes and needs. We are lucky to have her.
